Christmas Decs

I spent a whole five minutes helping dad put up the Christmas lights and mum a further ten minutes decorating the tree with some friends.  Mum had to re-do our side, even though we thought it looked great.

Dad keeps buying solar lights for the garden to add to the LED lights on the balcony.

It all looks brilliant and we even have people drive by and stop to take a look.

The Tooth Faries coming tonight

Jake was the last of all his friends to get his teeth.  True to form, he's the last one in his class to loose his first milk tooth.  But tonight it's happened and a visit from the Tooth Fairy is finally going to come.

It looks like his other front tooth will be out before Christmas to so don't expect any cute photos this year.

Wax on, Wax off!

I made mum and dad very proud today.  I had my Karate grading this morning and I am no longer a white belt.  I have progressed to Yellow Belt, thanks to my rolls and bridging. Next year, black belt!

Trick or Treat

Two nights ago I went Trick or Treating with mum and dad.  I got lots of lollies and managed to eat most before I got home.  Dad was not impressed as it was his turn to put me to bed.  That worked well for him!  Apparently, my eyes were really red.

Solar Car Challenge

Today, Dad got us up early to go and see the start of the World Solar Car Challenge, which starts in Darwin and end in Adelaide.  Some of the cars were really weird, like the Canadian entry which looked more like a plane.  Some cars had difficulty leaving the starting area, like one of the Japanese entries which didn't know which side of the road to drive on so ended up bumping into the centre reservation.

Spare a thought for the UK entry from Cambridge University, which due to government cutbacks couldn't afford support vehicles and will have to run the 3000km to Adelaide!  Actually, we saw them broken down just around the corner after we left the start so I don't think they were going too far.

All in all there were 42 cars from 24 countries.  There's a picture of the Malaysian entry for our friend Izzy in Penang.

Roll on two years time to see if the British entry actually leaves Darwin.

Brave

Since I have started Karate I have become much braver!  I didn't get to wrestle the crocodile or the snake, but only because the handlers kept a close eye on me.

Now, if only I could tie my belt properly.

Holiday

We have just come back from a brilliant two weeks in Singapore and Penang in Malaysia.  I had great fun at Universal Studios in Singapore.  The best bit was the Madagascar Ride and the Jurassic Park Wild Water ride.  Best of all about Singapore though was the soap making course which mum and I did and the sushi train which was based on the 'bullet' train and visited you individually.

Penang was great, especially the bike riding activity where mum and dad weaved their way through the traffic whilst I was ferried around by an 83 year old trishaw driver, Uncle Lo.  I also love the chocolate and coffee museum where we all indulged in real chocolate.

Mum and dad's favourite bit was the hotel in Penang.  The Eastern and Oriental Hotel is an old colonial hotel with a modern annexe, where we stayed.   It was built in the old style and the views across the bay and straits was brilliant, especially from the infinity pool on the sixth floor.  Best of all though was the service where we were treated like royalty.  Definitely one of the best, if not the best, hotels we have ever stayed in.

Enjoy the photos
