Solar Car Challenge

Today, Dad got us up early to go and see the start of the World Solar Car Challenge, which starts in Darwin and end in Adelaide.  Some of the cars were really weird, like the Canadian entry which looked more like a plane.  Some cars had difficulty leaving the starting area, like one of the Japanese entries which didn't know which side of the road to drive on so ended up bumping into the centre reservation.

Spare a thought for the UK entry from Cambridge University, which due to government cutbacks couldn't afford support vehicles and will have to run the 3000km to Adelaide!  Actually, we saw them broken down just around the corner after we left the start so I don't think they were going too far.

All in all there were 42 cars from 24 countries.  There's a picture of the Malaysian entry for our friend Izzy in Penang.

Roll on two years time to see if the British entry actually leaves Darwin.

Brave

Since I have started Karate I have become much braver!  I didn't get to wrestle the crocodile or the snake, but only because the handlers kept a close eye on me.

Now, if only I could tie my belt properly.

Holiday

We have just come back from a brilliant two weeks in Singapore and Penang in Malaysia.  I had great fun at Universal Studios in Singapore.  The best bit was the Madagascar Ride and the Jurassic Park Wild Water ride.  Best of all about Singapore though was the soap making course which mum and I did and the sushi train which was based on the 'bullet' train and visited you individually.

Penang was great, especially the bike riding activity where mum and dad weaved their way through the traffic whilst I was ferried around by an 83 year old trishaw driver, Uncle Lo.  I also love the chocolate and coffee museum where we all indulged in real chocolate.

Mum and dad's favourite bit was the hotel in Penang.  The Eastern and Oriental Hotel is an old colonial hotel with a modern annexe, where we stayed.   It was built in the old style and the views across the bay and straits was brilliant, especially from the infinity pool on the sixth floor.  Best of all though was the service where we were treated like royalty.  Definitely one of the best, if not the best, hotels we have ever stayed in.

Enjoy the photos

Sports Day

Today was sports day.  We did lots of games like shot putt, egg and spoon race, high jump and the sack race.  I did really and managed to get over the high jump even when the bar was raised.  I will let the photos do the talking.

Momentous Day

Today has been one of the best days ever.  For years I have been riding my bike with stabilisers.  The dad took one side off and I rode that for ages.  Then dad took the other stabiliser off and I managed to ride around the garden at about 10m at a time.  But today, riding my bike is so easy.  We got up early and mum and dad went for a walk whilst I rode my bike all the way.  We went for miles, over a small bridge, across the dirt and around lots of bends - all without me falling off once.  Yeah, I've got it.

A Big 7th Birthday

What a week.  First I had my real birthday on Wednesday.  Mum made some chocolate-crunch cakes for me to take to school. The we had Greg and Sandy over for my birthday tea.  This was all after I woke up at 5.30am to open my presents.  Actually, I didn't open them until after 6am as Dad told me I would lose a present every time I came out of my room.  6am is when dad came and got me.

I then had my birthday party at the Planet Ten Pin Bowling which was just brilliant.  I had 14 friends turn up and we all a great time.  Oliver went home early before my birthday cake as we wasn't feeling well. His mum said she would have to have the window down on the way home.  I think he ate too many sweets.

The best bit was my chocolate pirate cake, which was just brilliant, even though it didn't last long.

Mum and dad are having a very quiet afternoon

Friends and Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day and I was awake at 5am waiting to give Mum her presents that I bought and made.  I bought some candles and soaps, but Mum said the best presents were the mug and T shirts that I painted.  Mum had here morning coffee in her new mug whilst wearing the T shirt - she really did love them.

Yesterday was the start of my birthday week (Mum has a week, a so should I).  I had two friends over yesterday who can't make my birthday party next weekend. Cooper, who has been a friend since I was 1 month old (that's how much older I am than him) and his brother Jaxon bought birthday muffins, which were really yummy.  We managed to leave one for Dad after his game of golf.

I can't wait to see what presents I get for my birthday on Wednesday.  I also can't wait for my party.  I am going bowling with 14 friends.  I will post some photos next week.
